Escape the Ordinary

True love is the greatest adventure

We arrived at Bryce Canyon Tuesday afternoon, just as the snow was starting to fall. This certainly wasn’t the weather we were hoping for. When Derek tried to hook the camper into electricity, it kept tripping. Luckily after working on the rental property Derek has some knowledge with electricity, so he was able to rewire the cord and get it all hooked up. Because it was supposed to be so cold here, we knew we needed to be plugged in so we could use our heater and furnace.

Ruby’s Inn RV Park and Campground: ($37.95/night):┬áI booked this site online, and when we arrived they informed us we were in the “overflow” parking. It isn’t horrible, but there are a lot of tour buses around us that beep when they reverse. Our site has water and electricity, but they warned us when we checked in to unhook the water at night because it gets below freezing. Without staying in Bryce, this campground is about as close as you can get.

Wednesday it rained and snowed most of the day, so we just laid around and chilled. Derek and I did go for a quick run yesterday afternoon, and boy oh boy am I out of shape čśÉ

This morning it was still really cold outside, but was at least supposed to be partly sunny today. When we were hiking at Grand Canyon, two men told us we NEEDED to hike the Peek-A-Boo Loop Trail when we got to Bryce. It was about 5 1/2 miles round trip, and now we see why it was labeled a strenuous hike. In about 2 1/2 hours I burned 1,320 calories!

Tomorrow we are packing up and headed to Yuba Lake State Park for the weekend. I don’t think we will get much hiking done at this park, but it will be nice to walk the dogs a little more. Also, Derek thinks we need to stop at Walmart and buy a couple of┬áinflatable kayaks to use on the lake. I’m just excited for warmer weather (highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s)!
